Who Should the Clippers Sign as Their 15th Man?

It is only a couple days into free agency, yet most of the top free agents have already agreed to deals. The Clippers are up to 14 guaranteed contracts after resigning Nic Batum and Amir Coffee, as well as bringing in John Wall. While they have yet to sign their 2nd round draft pick, it would make most sense to sign him to a 2-way contract. This way they could use their 15th spot on the roster to bring in a backup center, which they still need after Isaiah Hartenstein signed with the New York Knicks. While many free agent centers have already signed, and the top remaining free agent, Deandre Ayton is not going to be coming, the Clippers could still sign a good backup center. It would almost have to be on a minimum contract, so not only will they have to choose from among the remaining free agents but would have to get someone who would be ok with the minimum amount to play for a championship contender.

Here would be the Clippers top remaining ideal players to bring in for that backup center, 15th man, minimum contract player:

1. Hassan Whiteside - A great defender and had a good season last year as a backup in Utah, he would be an amazing asset and if they could get him on a minimum contract, it would be a steal.

2. Thomas Bryant - Before missing a year due to injury, he was starting for Washington. He is pretty young and has potential. He would probably be ok with a minimum contract, so would be worth taking a chance on him.

3. Tristan Thompson - He is consistent and would be a solid addition to the bench. Brings championship experience.

4. Dwight Howard - It is clear his NBA career is almost over, but it's possible he could still be a decent backup center if he is up for it.

5. Serge Ibaka - After his back injury, he seemed to not be the same and the Clippers traded him away at the deadline last year. However, getting him on a minimum contract would be a much better deal for the Clippers.

Other remaining free agents if none of those work out - Demarcus Cousins, Greg Monroe, Ed Davis, Gorgui Deng, Luke Garza.
